Some of My Favorite Deals This Week

OK, yesterday was a much better couponing day for me!!! I did much better than the disappointing day before. I made trips to Walgreens, Smiths and Albertsons and thought I'd share some of my favorite deals with you!

Walgreens:
I thought about the GM cereal 2/$4 deal and decided it wasn't that great of a deal because you had to buy a gallon of milk with the 2 boxes of cereal to get the $2 register reward. Well, a friend told me you didn't have to so I decided to try it...and NO, you don't have to buy the milk to get the rr. So, buy 2 boxes of "select" GM cereals for $2 each and get $2 back in rr.

Use the $1 off Honey Nut Cheerios coupon from HERE if that flavor is available.

Also, at the new Walgreens store in Twin Falls, with the peelie coupons stuck to the Pepsi 12 packs and the in store coupon, Pepsi 12 packs are 4 for $8.92 ($2.23 each).

Albertsons:
Albie's has their Pillsbury refrigerated cookie dough on sale for $1.29 (I didn't see this in the ad so I don't know if this is an unadvertised deal or not). Use the $1 off coupon from HERE and get cookie dough for only $.29!! (I hope this coupon is still available!! it was 2 days ago.)

There is an in-store coupon for Orowheat bread for $1.49 a loaf. Use your $.55 off Orowheat coupon that expires TODAY and get it for only $.94 a loaf.

Kelloggs cereal is on an in-store coupon for $1.47 a box. I managed to find a couple of $1 coupons in my binder that expire today and a peelie stuck to one of the boxes so be on the look-out for those. You can also use the $5 off 4 boxes of Kelloggs cereal coupon from the Target site. The first 3 boxes are at the $1.47 price and the 4th will not be (I think they're only $1.99 on sale anyway) so that would make 4 boxes only $1.40!!

Disappointing Shopping Trips

Do you ever read a blog about a great deal, then head out to get it only to be disappointed??? I'm sure I'm not the only one out there!!! I've found that A: the deal doesn't work the way they tell you it should, or B: it must've worked, because everything is gone! Such was the case for me tonight. I read blogs about great deals at Walgreens so I print the appropriate coupons headed to Walgreens....out of the Scrubbing Bubbles refill kits....out of the Honey Nut Cheerios...out of the Bayer glucose meters.....no coupons for the Revlon makeup. Then I go to the other Walgreens....out of the same things. *SIGH* I suppose this is the problem with only having two Walgreens in the town you live in. Same is true for Target. Usually when there is a "great deal" or "free deal" at Target, since we only have one store here, I don't even attempt it anymore.

While at Walgreens, I try to buy some Christmas candy marked 50% off. Doesn't ring up right...have to call for a price check....."shouldn't have been in the Christmas section". So I say "Fine then, take it off, and move it out of the Christmas section." Then they over-charge me $18 and I have to get a manager to fix it.

Then I head to Walmart to get some Glade 4 oz candles. The shelf is clearly marked $2.25, then 50% off. They ring up $2.98. She changes all the prices to $2.25. But wait, they should be 50% off!! So she voids them all and re-rings them up at $1.12. Then I hand her 4 $1.50/2 coupons and she scans each one and puts them in her drawer and not one came off the total. So now she had to manually enter each one. **UGH!!** The cashier standing next to her watching actually said this "That's what I hate about Walmart, there is no pricing integrity. That's why I don't shop here." LOL, she works for them!!!!

Moral of the story? Don't believe everything you read, have a back-up plan, and WATCH THEM RING UP YOUR ITEMS!!

It's almost the end of the month!! The coupon sites usually reset their coupons the first of the month so don't forget to go thru them and make sure you have the coupons printed that you want just in case they're not back next month!

My Walmart Coupon/Ad Match Trip

If you haven't noticed from my last several posts, I haven't done much coupon shopping for awhile. I finally cut some coupons the other night, but I was about 4 weeks behind!! Needless to say, it is time to get back into this!! I do have to say, I am thankful for the stockpile I had built up from using my coupons because it really helped save me during this busy holiday season from having to run to the store for things or make big shopping trips. I really haven't had to do much grocery shopping at all! That said, here are the deals I got at Walmart last night. (sorry there are no pics...can't find my camera cord again!!!)

• Townhouse/Club crackers, matched Ridley's ad for $1.59 (Walmart price $1.94), then used $1/2 coupon from 12/13 RP. Final price $1.09/box for a savings of $.84 each. I bought 8 boxes of these because I haven't seen these go on sale for this cheap in a long time and my baby LOVES crackers! (or "cooookies" as she calls them).
• Nabisco crackers , matched Albertsons ad for $1.50 (Walmart price $2). Then I used my $1/1 Nabisco coupons for a savings of $1.50/box.
• Campbell's Chunky soup, matched Albertsons ad for $.99 (Walmart price $1.50), then I used $1.50/3 coupon from the Campbells site for a savings of $1.01/can.
• Doritos, matched Albertsons ad for $2.29 (Walmart price $2.48). Not a huge savings but we needed tortilla chips and I still saved $.19 a bag.
• Three 12 packs of Pepsi, cashier matched "some one's ad" for $2.60 (she knew they were on sale somewhere) but I had 3 coupons for a free 12 pack so I saved $2.60/12pack.
• Nalley Pickles, Walmart's price $1.76, then I used the $1 off Nalley Elite coupon...thought I'd give it a try, and yes it scanned and they took it without question so I saved $1 each.

This may not seem like that big of a deal, but I mostly went for the Townhouse/Club crackers so I just decided to see what else I could do while I was there and I wanted to use some of my coupons that expire on 12/31. Still, even tho it doesn't seem like much, with matching ads and using coupons, I saved $29.96 just on these items!!! That sort of makes it a big deal.

Price Matching

Regrettably, I have not done much couponing lately. My poor coupon binder has been mostly ignored the last couple weeks. I have been so busy trying to get everything done for Christmas that I just have not had the time to devote to couponing like I used to. I have about 3 weeks of inserts to cut and file still! I have only been to Albertsons ONCE since Thanksgiving!! But, I am still saving money! I have still managed to clip a couple coupons to use as well as some that I already had. I have done some great deals at Walgreens and used some competitor coupons at Smiths but lately, since I've been too busy to run around to every store, I have begun doing more price matching.

At Walmart the other day, I was able to get everything I needed from crafts for the school Christmas party to Smith's sale on cheese and Albertsons sale on sour cream. It was extremely easy to price match at Walmart! I also price matched Kmart's sale on the Playskool baseball toy at Walmart. Walmart's price was $18.92. I price matched Kmart for $10, then used my $5 printable coupon and got it for $5. Great Toys for Tots toy! (almost 75% savings!)

I went to Target and price matched Kmart's sale on Mr. Potato Head Silly Suitcase. Target's price was $17.99, Kmart's sale price was $10 and I used a $5 printable coupon and got it for $5. (almost 75% savings!)

I found out that Fred Meyer price matches!!!! YAY!!! I took Target's ad for this wireless mouse to Freddie's and was able to get their $29.99 mouse for only $9.99!! (a 66% savings!) While I was at Freddie's, I grabbed the Fischer Price Trio Police Station. It wasn't a price match, but still a good deal! Originally $14.99, it was on sale for $9.99 minus 10% (extra savings for last week) and then i used my $5 printable coupon (from a while back) and was able to get it for only $4.53!!

So while sometimes we don't have a lot of time to devote to tediously clipping and filing, don't worry, there are still ways to be thrifty and save!

Target 12/6-12/12

check Target.com, then go to grocery coupons at the bottom of the page to see Target's current printable coupons. They seem to be adding some almost daily. There is now a print limit on their coupons, it's usually 2 prints, but sometimes only one. Some of the coupons are store coupons and some are manufacturer coupons but you don't know which is which until you print. You should be able to use the manufacturer coupons at any store but you may have some troubles because there is a Target logo on it, but it still scans and should be accepted.

and remember if you take in your recyclable bag, Target will give you a $.05 credit per bag.

Target Price Matching Policy Updated

Wow, just when you think Target is getting bad, they like to try and get a little worse. I'm not sure who is in charge of coupon and price matching policy at Target but I think they are trying to discourage customers to use this, rather than encourage. *Big sigh*. Target has yet again updated their price matching policy. They just updated it about a week ago but have since updated it again. Now the policy states that Target store coupons will be deducted BEFORE price matching. If the competitor price is still lower, then the price will be matched and any manufacturer coupons may be deducted. You can view their policy here.

I'm sure you've noticed in my previous posts that I am getting very frustrated with using coupons and trying to price match at Target. In the beginning it was awesome and I was getting great deals. Now it seems that the cashiers as well as the company are doing everything to make this a real pain. The last several transactions I have done at Target with coupons have been a struggle. I have even had problems using their own store coupons on the item pictured in the coupon without a hassle. As far as I'm concerned, if I can get it somewhere else, I will. I used to love Target but now, not so much. While other stores are becoming more coupon-friendly, Target is doing the opposite in my opinion.

Sunday Coupon Inserts

This week there was only one insert (Smart Source) and next week there are no inserts scheduled. Since I subscribe to only a Sunday edition of the newspaper, I put my subscription on hold for the week we have no inserts. It's less waste and it extends my subscription for one more week. If you subscribe to the Idaho Statesman like I do, then you can easily do this on their website.

There WERE Albertsons doublers in the paper Sunday (YAY!!). They were in a regular-looking Albertsons ad, not a shiny insert like usual on Sundays so don't throw it out! They are good thru Thanksgiving so we have a little more time to use them this week. There isn't anything at Albertsons this week that I am particularly excited about but I was thinking of doubling the $1/4 Campbells Gravy coupon. They are on sale for $.47 this week so they would be FREE. I'll try to come up with more doubler ideas later, I plan to go thru my binder and hopefully get some deals on some of my coupons that are expiring Nov 30th (and there are a lot!).

If you have any great doubler ideas, I'd love to hear them!!!
