TF Albertsons New Special Order Policy

I was at the Twin Falls Alberstons store tonight and they informed me of their new "special order" policy at their store. Last week was a great sale, and there were lots of special orders. Apparently they had some difficulty storing people's orders in the back room due to lack of space and so they began selling the special orders to first-come customers regardless of who's order it was. This defeats the purpose of a special order and I was afraid it would lead to problems in the future. Apparently, and obviously, there were some upset customers. Then on the other hand, there were customers like myself that had placed an order that week and the week before and the store never placed nor pulled my order. HMMMM......

......so their answer to this problem? They will no longer pull or hold a special order for anyone. (lovely solution, huh?) They are willing to increase their quantity ordered of an item if you would like to order a large quantity but it will put on the shelf and sold first-come, first-serve. Not really a special order in my book. From the looks of things on the Boise blogs, this is not the way that they do things at other stores.

So, what do you think of this new policy??? How can you order coupons to buy a large quantity when you aren't even ensured that you will get the product? I'd really like to know how everyone feels because if there are a lot of us that are opposed to the new "policy" maybe we can voice our opinions and get it changed to something that will work better for the customer and the store. Please, let me know what you think!!!

Update on Albertsons GM Stock On Hand

OK so I had big plans to be at Albertsons early this morning because I knew they'd run out of everything early (as per usual) but life and laundry got in the way and I didn't make it till late tonight and I thought I'd share what I found. Maybe this will save you a trip.

Green Giant boxed veggies: very few left and no broccoli or cauliflower
(nice picture, huh?)

Totinos Pizzas: there are still a few at the end freezer case, but just a few.

Totinos Pizza rolls: GONE!

Biscuits: still pretty well stocked

Sweet Moments: still stocked

Cookie Dough: stocked and there is a $1/2 coupon in the dispenser below!!!
Is anyone else that shops at the Twin Falls store frustrated about the quantity on hand of ad items, or is it just me? Please let me know what you think. I find it very frustrating that they seem to never order a decent quantity of ad items! It seems crazy to me that on day one of a big promo sale like this that you have empty shelves. My stack of Albertsons rain checks is huge. So, that being said.....get rain checks! (UGH!)

Another note, the Grocery Smarts page says that the Old El Paso refried beans are included in the promo, however they are not at the Twin store. I don't know if this varies from store to store or if it was just a typo but it is a shame that they are not!!! I had a rain check that made them $.50 from a few weeks ago (the price they would have been on this promo) and with the catalina they are generating, it made them FREE. So I guess sometimes a rain check turns out to be a better deal! Often times you can use it with doublers later or keep your fingers crossed a catalina starts for that item.

Post Cereal Sale at Albertsons 3/17/3/23

So (in case you haven't heard) the Post cereal sale starts today at Albertsons. Our area did NOT get coupons in the paper so if you planned ahead, you had to order coupons on Ebay. If you didn't plan ahead, don't worry, it's still a good deal if you buy by March 21st.
The following catalina will run through Sunday:
Buy 4 select Post cereals, get $3 back OYNO
Buy 5 select Post cereals, get $4 back ONYO
I unfortunately don't know which "select" Post cereals are included in the catalina. I guess it'll be trial and error (unless someone else can find that info, please let me know).
OK so here are some scenarios (thanks to fabulessly frugal!!):

IF you have NO COUPONS (just make sure you purchase by Sunday):
Buy 5 boxes @ $1.59 each = $7.95
less $4 catalina = $3.95
equals $.79 each (not an awesome price, but still a good price on cereal)

IF you have coupons AND doubles
Buy 4 boxes @ $1.59 each = $6.36
less $2.00 using (2) $1/2 coupons = $4.36
less $3.00 catalina (because wyb 4 boxes, the catalina is for $3.00)
less $1.00 (because you only want to double ONE coupon to minimize your oop)
equals $.36 (plus tax which I'm guessing will be $.14) for FOUR boxes!
$.09 per box (plus tax)

You might also consider purchasing SIX boxes ans asking the cashier to adjust the value of the double down. It would look like this:
Buy 6 boxes @ $1.59 each = $9.54
less $3.00 using (3) $1/2 coupons = $6.54
less $4.00 catalina (that you'll get the first time you buy 5 or more boxes of Post) = $2.54
less $2.00 (2) doubles
less $.54 3rd double adjusted down
equals TAX only!

If you have COUPONS and NO DOUBLES
Buy 4 x $1.59 = $6.36
less $2 using (2) $1/2 MQ = 5.59
less $3 Catalina = $1.59
= $.34 each!

Albertsons 2/24-3/2

I was pretty excited to see the General Mills Promo back again at Albertsons this week, especially because it includes a $7 catalina with a $20 purchase, where it is usually only a $5 catalina. Then I read the fine print. This time the deal is different. Hopefully this is a one time thing and not a permanent change.
The deal this time is you must spend $20 AFTER store and manufacturer coupons and you can only do one deal per person. UGH! Not that great of a deal. So now, you have to bring your total GM purchase to $20 AFTER all coupons, and I'm assuming the catalina, if you are allowed to roll it. Come on Albertsons, give us something to get excited about!!
